Farmers seek return of land acquired for Dadri plant
Lucknow: A group of farmers on Friday staged a sit-in in front of state assembly demanding that their land acquired by Anil Ambani Group firm for setting up a power plant at Dadri be returned in view of the delay in project.
A Reliance Power spokesman said that some elements are acting against the interest of the state and instigating local people for spurious agitation while blaming Mukesh Ambani-led RIL for delay in the project.
Alleging that land was acquired after giving them a meagre compensation, farmers under the banner of ‘Sahyog Society’ demanded that the land be given back to them as it was their only sources of income.
“Amar Singh, Anil Ambani and the previous SP government had conspired to grab fertile land of 7 villages of Dadri," Sahyog Society president Rajeev Tyagi alleged.
He also met principal secretary to CM Shailesh Krishna and handed over a memorandum of farmers demands.
“RIL has created a situation wherein our Dadri project stand delayed by over three years only because of the wrongful conduct of RIL and its refusal to execute a workable and banakable gas supply. Once the gas agreement is secured, the power project can comeu p within 2-3 years," the Reliance Power spokesman said.
“Our Dadri project is ready in all aspects, including having land in possession, commitment of water supply and all necesary clearances and approvals," he added.
