Waghmare out, Kazmi will now defend Kasab
Mumbai:Abbas Kazmi was named the defence lawyer for Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving gunman from the November attacks on Mumbai, a day after Kasab’s previous lawyer Anjali Waghmare was removed over a conflict of interest. Kazmi, 54, began his career in 1993, and defended about 30 people in trials linked to the Mumbai blasts of that year. “I would like the case wrapped up as soon as possible," he said.
Kazmi, who is not a legal aid lawyer, will be paid by the state, judge M.L. Tahaliyani told the court.
