New Delhi: India’s rainfall deficit climbed down a notch to 25% from 26% last week. This was largely due to normal rainfall in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The monsoon season may be the driest in seven years, with 252 of the 626 districts declaring drought. India’s summer crop harvest will decline by one-fifth, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Thursday.
