United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has partnered with Yum Restaurants for the past five years in its fight against hunger. Last weekend, New Delhi saw some of India’s corporate Czars coming together for the World Hunger Relief Program 2011, not only to contribute money towards the cause, but also to discuss initiatives that can been made to eradicate the problem. It was a rare opportunity to see some of the big business leaders from corporates such as Pepsico, Bharti Walmart, Lemontree among others, get together, talking over good food and some taking part in some karaoke as well.
WFP along with Yum Restaurants have collected $85 million and provided for over 350 million meals during the past five years. In 2010, through the initiative they managed to garner over a crore of rupees in India and hope to beat that mark this time around
