New Delhi: The union government on Monday announced that it has set up a task force to review internal security scenario of the county.
“A task force has been set up under the chairmanship of former cabinet secretary Naresh Chandra to review the existing processes, procedures and practices in the national security system,” the government said in a press statement. “It will suggest measures where necessary for strengthening of the national security apparatus and in non-conventional areas having a bearing on the overall security situation,” it added.
Some of the other members include former Intelligence Bureau chief PC Haldar, former Research and Analyis Wing (RAW) chief KC Verma, Admiral (retd) Arun Prakash, Air Chief (retd) Marshal S Krishnaswamy, Lt Gen (retd) VR Raghavan and former union home secretary V.K. Duggal
“We will be reviewing all standard operating procedures related to national security. There was a delay in clearance to National Security Guard (NSG) during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Our effort will be to overhaul all the existing systems,” said one of the members on condition of anonymity.
