I have taken rebirth, says Jayalalithaa
Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital, appeals to people to vote for AIADMK in upcoming elections to three state constituencies
Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa said on Sunday she has taken “rebirth" and appealed to the people of her state to vote for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in upcoming byelections to assembly three constituencies on 19 November.
“I request people of Tamil Nadu to vote for AIADMK in Thanjavur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram and in Pondicherry. Though I’m unable do the campaigning in-person. My heart is there," Jayalalithaa said in a statement.
She said, “I have taken a rebirth due to the prayers of the people and my party cadre. What can harm me when I have your love?"
“I’m waiting to completely recover and resume my work for the people."
Jayalalithaa was admitted in Apollo hospital on 22 September and since then state ministers and AIADMK cadres have organised special prayers at temples across the state for her speedy recovery.
“I heard many committed suicide after hearing about my ill health. I want each of you to work for the people. We cannot afford to lose you," the statement said.
On Saturday Apollo Hospital chairman Pratap C. Reddy said that Jayalalithaa’s infection was fully under control but her discharge from hospital would depend on her progress.
The last official health bulletin from the hospital authorities came on 21 October. It said she is “interacting and progressing gradually".
