New Delhi: The government said on 16 January about four lakh birds have been culled in the wake of a bird flu outbreak in some parts of West Bengal.
A localized occurrence of the highly contagious Avian Influenza was reported from Birbhum and West Dinajpur districts of the state yesterday (15 January).
Agriculture and Food Minister Sharad Paward said the nearby places have been alerted about the outbreak and preventive measures were being taken.
However, the minister said the situation was under control.
