India, US to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties

The Indo-US Economic Summit will deliberate on augmenting two-way trade to $500 billion, says the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce

New Delhi: Leaders from business, government and academia will deliberate on ways to enhance bilateral trade and investments between India and the US during a two-day summit.

Starting 14 September, the Indo-US Economic Summit “will deliberate on augmenting the existing two-way trade to $500 billion and will focus on sectors that foster growth," the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) said in a statement.

The chamber’s north India council is hosting the function. It will be will be inaugurated by US ambassador to India Richard Verma and will be addressed by union Ministers, including information and broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu and food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, along with top executives of global companies.

The summit will bring together more than 250 people, who are thought leaders from business, government, civil society and academia.

“As the Indian economy further globalizes and expands, the summit will provide a valuable opportunity to assess developments across India-US trade relationship, economy and society," Lalit Bhasin, summit chair and regional president, IACC-NIC said.
