Govt sources: Jan Lokpal Bill can be introduced in Parliament as a private member’s bill. The bill can be discussed in the Parliament once introduced. Government to monitor health of Anna Hazare and sources says that given his age, the fast won’t last beyond 3-4 days.

Team Anna not satisfied with arrangement at Ramlila maidan. Hazare is likely to go to the venue Friday morning.

Hazare to continue fast till his health permits, says Kiran Bedi

Anna Hazare will continue his fast till his health permits and there is no perceived threat to his life, his associate Kiran Bedi said today, stressing that his protest is an indefinite hunger strike and “not a fast-unto-death".

“He will fast as long as he can sustain it, he will fast as long as there is no threat to his life," Bedi said, adding the protest by Hazare was not just a fast but also a dharna.

BJP supports Hazare’s crusade against corruption: Gadkari

Extending support to Anna Hazare’s anti-graft crusade, BJP President Nitin Gadkari today asserted that it was his party that brought corruption and black money issues to the forefront and now it will firmly stand behind the Gandhian in his agitation.

“BJP had not failed or delayed anywhere on raising such topical public issues. BJP very much voiced corruption in 2G spectrum and Commonwealth Games, and even did not allow ruling

Indian-Americans come out in support of Anna Hazare

Coming out in support of Anna Hazare, Indian-Americans have appealed to the Indian government to take serious steps to curb the menace of corruption in the country.

“We NRIs want to remove corruption out of India. We support Anna Hazare’s efforts to eradicate the corruption, pass Lokpal Bill and declare black money as national assets," said Dnyanoba Kendre, a yoga teacher from Pennsylvania.

Of all the protests in India in recent times, this is the most legitimate and at the grass root-level, that can change the fate of the country, said Rangarajan, a student from the University of Maryland.

Another student, Umang Agarawal, said they are emailing Supreme Court en mass directly to take suo motu action and save the nation.

In a statement, Atlanta-based US Hindu Alliance strongly condemned the measures taken by the Indian government against the peaceful and democratic anti-corruption movement led by Hazare.

“The right to speak freely and the right to protest peacefully have been earned by the people of India after a prolonged struggle which involved the sacrifices of millions of its people.

Support continues to pour in for Hazare in Karnataka

Support today continued to pour in for Anna Hazare in Karnataka as ruling BJP and students staged dharnas and protests to express their solidarity with the anti-corruption crusader.

Students skipped their classes to come onto the streets to register their protest.

Rains also did not dampen the spirit of protesters who continued to throng the Freedom Park, where the dharna was on for the third day, with veteran Gandhian H S Doreswamy and former Supreme Court judge Santosh N Hegde on the stage to inspire the crowd.

Youth power fuels protest in Hazare’s home district

A bandh, being observed in the home district of the anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, entered second day today with thousands of youth participating in the peaceful protests for strong Lokpal.

Responding to a clarion call given by Hazare who hails from Ralegan Siddhi village, the educational institutions and commercial establishments across the district remained closed for the second consecutive day in the wake of the spontaneous shutdown.

Protests in support of Hazare continue in TN

Continuing their support to social activist Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign,a large number of people today observed fast in Chennai.

More than 150 people assembled at Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur here under banner of “India Against Corruption", an umbrella body of the citizen’s movement fighting for a powerful Lokpal Bill, and sat on a fast since 8am.

The protesters were carrying banners saying ‘Say no to corruption and yes to Jan Lok Pal".
