New Delhi: A meeting of an inter-ministerial group (IMG) has recommended cancelling allocations of two coalfields of Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corp. Ltd and one of Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corp. Ltd, a coal ministry official said on Thursday.

Jharkhand State Mineral Development’s Patratu and Rabodih fields in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corp.’s Semaria/Piparia block in Madhya Pradesh could be cancelled by coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal, the official said, requesting anonymity.

All the three blocks were meant for commercial mining, according to the ministry’s list of all coalfield allottees. The companies were not available immediately for comments.

The official said IMG will continue to hold meetings to review all the allocated coalfields in a gradual way.
