BackSC to hear DMK’s plea against public prosecutor in Jayalalithaa DA case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Friday a plea by the general secretary of regional party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam K. Anbazhagan seeking to remove the special public prosecutor in the disproportionate assets case against former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa.
The petition has challenged the appointment of Bhavani Singh as special public prosecutor in the case going on before the Karnataka high court. The petition states that Singh was appointed as special public prosecutor only for the trial, and his appointment for the high court had not been done afresh.
