New Delhi: The states can borrow up to Rs21,000 crore more in the fiscal ending 31 March, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee told lawmakers in Parliament on Tuesday. The Union government can’t guarantee financial assistance should states decide to increase their workers’ salaries, he added.

Garment exports down in June quarter
New Delhi: Earnings from garment exports fell 15.4% to $2.41 billion (around Rs11,500 crore) in the June quarter from $2.85 billion a year ago, according to the Apparel Export Promotion Council.
