India’s Vortex among 31 WEF tech pioneers
New Delhi: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced its latest list of Technology Pioneers, comprising 31 of the most innovative technology start-ups from around the world. Only one company from India, Vortex Engineering has made it to the list this year.
Vortex works in the field of taking banking to the rural masses through its low power and low cost ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines). The Forum received more than 330 applications from around the world that were evaluated by 68 global technology experts.
Some of the other companies that have been selected are Aster Data, Digital Lumens, Ecovative Design, Ferrate Treatment Technologies, Ion Torrent among others. “Their technologies and business models will have a durable and valuable effect in several industries and society as a whole. We look forward to their unique contributions to the mission of the Forum: improving the state of the world," said André Schneider, MD and COO of the World Economic Forum.
