India asks North Korea not to engage in activities that impact negatively on peace, stability in the region

New Delhi: India on Tuesday said North Korea had acted in violation of its international commitments and asked the reclusive country not to do enagage in activities that impact negatively on peace and stability in the region.
“Reports indicate that DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or North Korea) has conducted a nuclear test on 12 February 2013. It is a matter of deep concern that DPRK has acted in violation of its international commitments in this regard. We call upon DPRK to refrain from such actions which adversely impact on peace and stability in the region," Syed Akbaruddin, spokesman of the ministry of external affairs, said in a statement.
The statement comes after North Korea on Tuesday claimed a breakthrough by exploding a “miniaturised" device in its third nuclear test with a “successful" underground detonation.
