Govt changes licence schedule to lure new pharma units

Lucknow: In a bid to facilitate entrepreneurs willing to set up new pharmaceutical units in the state, Uttar Pradesh government has fixed a schedule for issuance and renewal of licence to the companies.
As per the fresh schedule, the state licensing authority (SLA) would issue new licence and renew those of existing manufacturing units within 90 days of the submission of applications, an order issued by Food and Drug Authority department said.
“The Central Approving Committee (CAC) will pass the application within 120 days,” it said.
The order said the SLA will issue licence for permission to manufacture additional drug to the companies within 60 days, which will be further approved by CAC within 90 days.
While new GMP and validity certificate will be issued within 60 days, fresh licence for manufacturing of cosmetics will be released within 90 days.
The state government would review the implementation of the order after six months and action will be taken against erring officers and employees, the official order said.
As per the fresh order, medical stores having annual turnover of more than rupees five lakh will be required to maintain a computer.
