The Environmental Performance Index for 2010 ranks 163 countries on their performance across categories such as environmental health, air quality, water resource management, biodiversity and habitat, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, and climate change.
While Iceland leads the list, India figures at a low 123, behind China, which ranks 121. Among other countries, the US ranks 61, while Brazil and Russia figure at the 62nd and 69th spot, respectively. The index is compiled by Yale University and Columbia University.
