Govt to boost cane crop area to bridge shortfall

New Delhi: The Union government and sugar mills are taking steps to increase area planted with cane to bridge a shortfall in supplies, Indian Sugar Mills Association president Samir Somaiya told reporters in New Delhi. We’re trying to see how best cane plantation can be incentivized, he said after a meeting with agriculture minister Sharad Pawar. He didn’t provide details.
