New Delhi: In two major breakthroughs, security agencies detained a suspected operative of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, blamed for the 13 February Pune terror attack, and six men allegedly involved in the massacre of 76 security personnel in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on 6 April.
“We have detained Abdul Samsad Bhatkal for questioning in the Pune terror attack," a senior home ministry official said. Bhatkal was detained Sunday after he arrived in Mangalore from Dubai. Bhatkal is in the custody of the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad.
In Chhattisgarh, police on Sunday arrested six Naxalites suspected of being involved in the attack on security personnel. “They were keeping a close watch over CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) movement in the area. With their arrest, we will now more about the planning and execution of the attack carried out by them," the home ministry official added.
