Fiscal deficit at Rs2.29 trillion in April-July

New Delhi: India’s fiscal deficit during April to July was Rs2.29 trillion ($49.6 billion), or 55.4%, of the full-year target, government data showed on Tuesday.
Net tax receipts were Rs1.14 trillion and total expenditure was Rs3.75 trillion for the April-July period.
In February, the government had forecast a fiscal deficit of Rs4.13 trillion, or 4.6%, of gross domestic product (GDP), for the current financial year ending in March 2012.
