Kolkata: Serving an ultimatum, the Trinamool Congress on Tuesday asked the Congress party to convey within “a day or two" its decision on seat-sharing in West Bengal for the Lok Sabha elections.
“The seat-sharing deal of 28 seats to be contested by the Trinamool Congress and 14 by the Congress was clinched on 1 March at a meeting in which WBPCC president Pranab Mukherjee and AICC in-charge of the state, K. Keshava Rao, were present," party chief Mamata Banerjee told reporters here.

‘Obama unlikely to mediate on Kashmir’
Washington: The Barack Obama administration is unlikely to mediate on the Kashmir issue and the US policy of non-interference will continue despite calls for greater American involvement, according to a latest Congressional report.
The Indo-US ties appear all set to deepen under Obama’s presidency notwithstanding apprehensions in some quarters about “potential friction" on issues like Kashmir and nuclear non-proliferation, said the 83-page report on the India-US Relations by the Congressional Research Service.

Congress, Gowda may tie up in Karnataka
New Delhi:The Congress party and H.D. Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular), or JD(S), are likely to enter into an electoral understanding in Karnataka to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, said a senior Congress leader.
The JD(S) is a part of the so-called Third Front led by the Left parties, whose main aim is to form a non-Congress, non-BJP government.
According to the Congress leader who didn’t want to be identified, the party has asked Gowda to have a pre-poll understanding with it in Karnataka “to prevent the split" of the non-BJP vote.
“We have told him that he does not have to enter into a formal alliance and be a part of the UPA," the leader said.
