PremiumBusiness plan: Students of the executive MBA programme at IIM-C can take part in campus placements two years after they graduate.
Kolkata: In an attempt to encourage entrepreneurship, the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, or IIM-C, will allow students of its executive MBA programme to take part in campus placements as many as two years after they finish the course if they choose to start their own business initially.
Only those who have worked for five years or more are eligible for the executive MBA. In future, depending on its success, the facility might be offered to students of the two-year MBA programme as well, Mohanty added.
On Monday, IIM-C said it had managed to place 34 out of 37 students of its executive MBA course called Postgraduate Programme for Executives, or PGPEX.
Average salary had declined 10% from last year to Rs18 lakh a year. The maximum pay offered to a PGPEX student this year was Rs35 lakh, which is 22% lower than last year.
Two students chose to start their own businesses, while one decided to rejoin the company he used to work for before starting the course.It took the institute four months to place the batch, said Mohanty, as against the usual two-three months.
McKinsey and Co., Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd, PricewaterhoueCoopers, IBM Consulting, Tata Consultancy
Services Ltd, Tech Mahindra Ltd and Tata Teleservices Ltd were among the companies that recruited PGPEX students from IIM-C, the institute said in a press release.
