Nitin Gadkari’s tip for fertilizing plants: Use your urine
Gadkari says he uses his urine to grow his plants faster
New Delhi: Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said he uses his urine to grow his plants faster.
“This is free homemade fertilizer," Gadkari said in a televised speech on Sunday in Nagpur. “I’m only telling you about urine, and not going further than that."
The minister said he pours urine stored in small plastic bags into a 50liter can for use as fertilizer. He said nutrients such as nitrogen help plant growth, echoing a farming tip going back centuries.
Television channel NDTV reported Gadkari was at a workshop organized by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on tackling drought.
Gadkari, a cabinet minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, sends vegetables from his garden to next-door neighbour Sonia Gandhi, the president of main opposition Congress party, the Economic Times reported on 15 April. Bloomberg
