Villagers set fire to trains in Bihar, 30 injured

Patna: At least 30 people were injured after angry villagers torched two trains and a railway station in Bihar on Monday to protest against a decision not to halt at remote stations, officials said.
Armed with rods, the villagers forced passengers out and set the two trains on fire at Khusaroopur station, about 20 km from Patna.
Officials and witnesses said at least 30 people were injured in a stampede as passengers rushed out of the burning station.
“They have uprooted railway tracks and assaulted our staff when they intervened," Girish Bhatnagar, a senior railway official, said.
The violence was triggered by a railway ministry decision to review 350 train halts at smaller stations across Bihar in a bid to save time.
“We are now reviewing the order to cancel stoppage of trains at the station," Bhatnagar said.
