Jayalalithaa ‘responded well’ to treatment, says Apollo Hospital
The Tamil Nadu chief minister has been advised a few days rest in the hospital for recuperative treatment, Apollo Hospital says in statement
Chennai: Apollo Hospital, in a bid to dispel rumours on Tamil Nadu chief minister J.Jayalalithaa’s health, issued a statement late on Thursday, stating that she has “responded well to treatment".
“The honourable chief minister, who was admitted in the Apollo hospital, Greams Road, Chennai, for fever has responded well to treatment. Necessary evaluation tests are being carried out. The honourable chief minister has been advised few days in the hospital for recuperative treatment," said Subbiah Viswanathan, chief operating officer, in a statement.
On Sunday, doctors and the administrators at the Apollo hospital, had denied rumors that Jayalalithaa will be flown abroad for treatment.
“There have been rumors and conjectures circulated falsely in the social media about honourable madam’s health condition, stating that she will be taken abroad for treatment. These are totally false and baseless. There is no question of taking the honourable chief minister abroad for treatment, as there is no necessity at all for this," said Viswanathan in the release on Sunday.
He had also added, “Necessary medications are being administered as required. As per protocol, necessary investigations and tests are being done to prevent recurrence of fever."
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo was admitted in the early hours on Friday, 23 September, with “fever and dehydration"and the hospital announced that her fever was brought under control and she resumed normal diet.
The chief minister was last seen in public on 15 September, garlanding C.N.Annadurai’s (former chief minister’s) photo during his 108 birthday celebration. However, she flagged off the second phase of Chennai Metro rail on 21 September from the secretariat via video conferencing.
