New Delhi: A demand for a separate Telangana state has disrupted the proceedings of Lok Sabha on Thursday with two members belonging to Telangana Rashtra Samiti insisting that the government should give an assurance on the floor of the house.
K Chandrashekhar Rao and Vijayashanti of TRS backed by main opposition BJP disrupted the question forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the proceedings till 11:15 am. Two TRS MPs came to the centre of the Lok Sabha and started raising slogans ”Jai Telangana and we want Telangana”.
Some BJP members stood supporting them.
The lower house proceedings were adjourned thrice on Wednesday as congress MPs belonging to Telangana region also joined the protests demanding a clear assurance from government in favour of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
However ruling party MPs have been asked to wait till the presentation of Union Budget on 28 February.
