Kolkata: The Kolkata Police has refused to grant permission to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to organise a rally in honour of its chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday at the Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata, opposite the iconic Victoria Memorial.

The Hindu outfit will move the Calcutta high court on Friday challenging the Kolkata Police decision. Even if the RSS cannot secure a favourable order from the court, it will go ahead with some form of a public gathering, an RSS spokesperson in Kolkata said. It is likely to be a silent protest march, he added.
