CBI questions Balwa about his relations with A.K. Singh, the prosecutor who has been taken off from the case

New Delhi: After questioning Unitech Ltd promoter Sanjay Chandra, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday sought explanations from businessman Shahid Balwa in connection with the purported conversation of public prosecutor A.K. Singh with Chandra.
Chandra and Balwa are among several people accused in the 2G spectrum case.
Balwa was asked if he had developed any links with Singh during the ongoing trial, according to a senior CBI official.
The agency said the CD containing the purported conversation between Chandra and Singh prima facie appears to be genuine. But the agency cannot take legal action against Chandra unless its obtains his voice sample through a court order. The agency is yet to register a case in this regard.
