The Bharatiya Janata Party, in alliance in Jharkhand along with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and All Jharkhand Student’s Union (AJSU), on Tuesday agreed upon heading the state government on a rotational basis with its Lok Sabha MP Arjun Munda slated to take over as chief minister within a week’s time.
“The arrangement has been finalised and present chief minister Shibu Soren would resign in a week’s time paving way for Arjun Munda to take over. It would a equal sharing basis for 28 months each,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
BJP, the main opposition in the centre, had announced its decision to withdraw support to the Shibu Soren lead state government in the last week of April after Soren voted against the opposition’s cut-motions in the Parliament. Both BJP and JMM have 18 seats each in the 82-member Jharkhand assembly. Other members in the coalition with Janata Dal (United) with 2 seats AJSU which has five seats and 2 independents.
