Strike | SBI associate banks staff on one-day strike
Patiala: Employees of the six associate banks of State Bank of India (SBI) would go on a nation-wide strike on Tuesday for not getting benefits at par with the SBI staff and their merger with the parent bank.
As many as 60,000 class III and IV employees are going on strike against the discrimination in extension of loan and interest reduction benefits, said All India State Bank of Indore officers’ coordination committee member Alok Khare.
“The talks between SBI management and us have failed because of the rigid attitude of management. Therefore we are forced to observe one-day strike tomorrow," said Naresh Gaur, general secretary of state sector bank employees association.
He lamented that SBI management has not extended the benefits, including loans and reduction in rate of interest in case of housing loans, overdraft facility, festival loans to the employees of associate banks, which have already been extended to SBI staff for the last one and half year.
