New Delhi: A probe into the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) massacre by ultra-Left militants on 6 April has suggested a failure in the security command in the combat operation, with experts saying it is time for a fresh look into India’s internal security policy.
“It is time to give up the ad-hoc measures to deal with situations like Dantewada and to come out with a comprehensive laid-down policy which should range from centralized training, operational intelligence to even the required restructuring of the forces to deal with the changed scenario. This incident and the subsequent report should act as an eye-opener,” said T. Ananthachari, former director general of the Border Security Force (BSF).
The one-man inquiry committee appointed to probe the recent Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh that killed 76 security personnel submitted its report on Monday to Union home minister P. Chidambaram.
