New Delhi: Rajdoot -- the sleek aircraft inducted by the IAF for flying VVIPs -- rolled out from the tarmac of the Palam airport today on its maiden flight carrying President Pratiba Patil and a host of other officials.

The aircraft with the first citizen of the country onboard took its maiden flight to Assam without a glitch and the exclusive passengers enjoyed its style and comfort.

Luxurious executive seats with beige leather upholstery and spacious interiors inside the Boeing Business Jet ensured a comfortable ride.

She interacted with the cabin crew and the pilots and queried about the working of gadgets, communication devices, facilities and entertainment system fitted in the customised plane.

“There are lot of gadgets now. This aircraft is much different from the previous ones," she said while taking a tour of the plane.

The President first went to the pilots’ cabin and enquired about their experience of flying this new machine. She then returned to her own cabin which has a retiring area and arrangement for seating six people. Her cabin has a light and dark wooden finish. It has facilities for telephone, fax, internet, LCD screens and other communication systems to enable round the clock contact with the ground.

Patil then came to third section which is meant for senior ministers and officials accompanying the VVIP. She asked the fellow passengers and officials about their experience in the new aircraft.

“There are many changes which are quite good for the people travelling in it. The trip will be more business-like now," she said.

The plane has an in-built entertainment system for movies and music among others. It also has a camera fitted close to the front wheel which helps the passengers to see the bird-eye view of landscape below, on the LCD screens fitted in their seats.

While the passengers were coming to terms with the new found luxury, the almost silent environment of the plane was reverberated with announcement that flight was about to conclude.
