Tharoor nominated to parliamentary panel
New Delhi: Member of Parliament (MP) from Kerala Shashi Tharoor, who had to step down from the post of the minister of state for external affairs in the wake of the Indian Premier League (IPL) controversy, has been nominated by Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar as a member of the parliamentary standing committee on external affairs.
Tharoor was forced to resign from the ministry amid Opposition demands for action against him after now suspended IPL commissioner Lalit Modi disclosed ownership details of the Kochi franchise. Critics alleged Tharoor had an indirect stake in the team.
