New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday slapped a notice on the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for his alleged threatening remarks against the district magistrate of Mainpuri from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh saying such action were “obstacles” in conduct of free and fair polls.
The commission asked Yadav to explain by 3 April why action should not be taken against him for threatening the dm-cum-returning officer Ministhy Dileep, failing which it would take further action without any further notice.
Rahul Gandhi to start election tour today
New Delhi: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will launch his election tour on Tuesday from Wardha in Maharashtra.
Gandhi is scheduled to address public meetings at Rajnandgaon and Korba in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
On 1 April, he will fly to Bihar where he address rallies in Aurangabad and Buxar and then in Lohardaga and Hazaribag in neighbouring Jharkhand.
