New Delhi: The Forward Contracts (Regulation) Amendment Bill of 2010 could be presented in the monsoon session of Parliament, consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister K.V. Thomas said on Wednesday.
“Our department is analyzing the (15th) report of the standing committee,” Thomas told reporters in Delhi. “This week or next week, we will be able to send it back with our amendments.”
Thomas did not say what those amendments would be. The new bill, which seeks to replace the existing decades-old law, will facilitate the introduction of options trading and also empower the regulator in a move that could deepen the futures markets.
