New Delhi: Vinod Kumar Binny, an MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), attacked the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, accusing it of taking decisions based on orders from the Congress party.

Binny is going to give his party chief Kejriwal a taste of his own medicine by threatening to go on an indefinite fast from 27 January if the Delhi state government fails to fulfil four promises that it made in the run-up to the Delhi elections.

“Behind the curtains, they cobbled up a government in Delhi. They said the former Congress chief minister (Sheila Dikshit) and its ministers were corrupt. No action has been initiated against any of them till now," Binny told reporters.

The four demands of Binny include giving 700 litres of free water to every household, 50% cut in electricity bills without any strings attached, security task forces for women and passing the Jan Lokpal Bill.

“They said they will pass the Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days, now they say they can’t," he said. “If they knew they could not do it, why promise it to the people at all?"

Binny also alleged that AAP’s ticket distribution, which followed an elaborate opinion-gathering process, is pre-decided by the top leadership of the party.

“The nominations for the Vidhan Sabha elections were fixed. Even for the Lok Sabha elections, most of the important seats are already decided on. If all this is fixed then why is there so much drama about it?" Binny told reporters.

“You call the media, you get photographs clicked and then you go back and sleep. Is this how you will run this country?" said Binny, who could not make it to Kejriwal’s cabinet list.

Binny criticized Kejriwal for his style of functioning. “Are you an autocrat? Do you decide things on your own?...Stop fooling the people of Delhi because it would not last too long."

The AAP refuted the allegations levelled by Binny and said disciplinary action would be initiated against the legislator for “baseless accusations" against the party.

“The party’s political affairs committee will initiate disciplinary action against Binny and accordingly a show-cause notice will be issued to him," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav told reporters.

“If he had any grievances against the party or its leaders, there are ways of expressing it. He could have taken up the issues in the party, but never did he raise such issues during any of the party meetings. It’s very sad," Yadav said, adding that Binny should not put personal ambition before the people’s hopes and expectations.
