Centre to spend ₹ 3,000 cr to develop 55 towns around NCR
Sonepat: To develop the areas around the National Capital Region (NCR), the Centre has sanctioned nearly ₹ 3,000 crore for 55 towns in Haryana, including Sonepat.
This was announced by the Haryana Power and PWD minister Ramandeep Singh Surjewala here Saturday.
The minister said the government has increased its annual expenditure from Rs100 crore to Rs560 crore to be spent on water supply and sewerage in the state.
The projects include maintenance of sewage treatment plants, water supply, installation of streetlights, construction of parks in select towns near the national capital, he said.
Surjewala said ₹ 924.50 crore will be spent on water supply and Rs1062 crore on sewerage system.
The government has allocated Rs496.70 crore and Rs201.90 crore on sewage treatment plant and solid waste management respectively.
A sum of Rs271.68 crore has been allocated for roads, drains, parks and streetlights, he added.
