New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Thursday sought an independent universal services obligation fund (USOF), while calling for a revamp of the telecom department-controlled body.
“USOF needs to be separated from DoT (department of telecommunications) and a framework on the lines of the National Highways Authority should be considered,” Trai said in its recommendations.
USOF is currently a department under DoT and is headed by an administrator.
