Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh would earn about Rs 7,000 crore revenue from the generation of hydro power once the ongoing projects are fully functional, state Power Minister Dorjee Khandu said.
Speaking in the assembly on 16 March, Khandu said a policy is being considered to allow private developers to develop mini and micro power projects thorugh which the state might earn a royalty of 8-12%.
Chief Minister Gegong Apang while supporting Khandu’s plan said the state’s power corporation could also tie up either private players or the CPSUs for tapping the vast hydro power potential of the state.
Many private and public companies are developing projects to fully utilise the state’s potential to generate 50,328 MW of hydro power.
Last year, the state government had signed an MoU with National Thermal Power Corp, National Hydroelectric Power Corp and North-Eastern Electric Power Corp to generate 15,000 MW electricity.
