Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has been selected by the Centre for the prestigious National Tourism Award 2007-08 for its outstanding performance in the tourism sector.
The work done by the state government in the field of tourism has also been recognized in the recent past by renowned and established organizations such as Indian Association of Tour Operators, Adventure Tour Operations Association of India and South Asian Travel Tourism Exchange who have conferred the best tourism state award on Madhya Pradesh, an official release today said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, minister for tourism, Tukoji Rao Puar and Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Development Corporation chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh have expressed happiness over the state’s selection.
The selection of Madhya Pradesh for this prestigious award by the Union Government came as a result of several important steps taken by the state government including the revamping of the Tourism Corporation.
Every single unit of the corporation is now making profit and it has estalished its image as being one of the finest tourism corporations in the country. Further steps are being taken to modernize systems and operational procedures.
