New Delhi: The country’s employment market continued to remain optimistic in October, with most sectors including healthcare seeing increased job opportunities, said a report by leading online job portal.
According to the report, 17 of the 27 industry sectors tracked by it, showed increased employment opportunities in October.
Healthcare, biotechnology & life sciences, pharmaceuticals, agro-based industries and consumer goods/FMCG were among the segments that saw higher job openings last month.
“The job market is still optimistic. The longer term trends show that the market has recouped,” Monster.com’s managing director (India/ Middle East/ South East Asia) Sanjay Modi said.
“In times to come, we can expect a consolidation trend in the country’s employment market,” he added.
The Monster Employment Index India, that provides a snapshot of online job demand, marginally dropped to 106 last month as compared to 108 in September.
However, October’s figure marks a 22% in comparison with same period a year ago, when the index was at just 87.
“Several economic indicators are pointing towards moderation in growth as also reflected by marginal contraction in Monster Employment Index in October,” Modi said.
In October, there was also good demand for hospitality, travel, marketing and communication professionals.
On the other hand, online job opportunities dropped for IT, finance and accounts professionals, last month.
Among the cities, Jaipur saw the most improvement in terms of recruitment trends. The employment index for the city jumped to 113 last month from 105 in September.
Last month, the employment index for both Delhi-NCR and Mumbai was 104.
