Cong tells Pawar not to attend Third Front rally
New Delhi: Upset over Nationalist Congress Party, or NCP, chief Sharad Pawar’s increasing proximity with the leaders of the so-called Third Front, the Congress party on Thursday appealed to the Union agriculture minister not to attend a proposed rally of non-Congress, non-Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, leaders at Bhubaneswar in Orissa.
“It will be good if he does not share a platform with the parties that are opposed to the Congress," home minister P. Chidambaram said told reporters at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.
Chidambaram said the Congress and the NCP, which have already announced a seat-sharing pact in Maharashtra, will also have an understanding in Gujarat and Goa.
