Fiscal deficit in Apr-Sept at $29.9 bn
New Delhi: India’s fiscal deficit from April to September was Rs1.33 trillion ($29.9 billion), or 34.9%, of the full-year target, the government said in a statement on Friday.
Tax receipts were Rs2.33 trillion and total expenditure was Rs5.38 trillion during the first half of the current financial year that began in April.
In February 2010, the government had forecast a fiscal deficit of Rs3.81 trillion, or 5.5% of gross domestic product (GDP), for the current financial year.
