New Delhi: Members of Parliament (MPs) will have a special screening of Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire on 3 August and will felicitate the award winners A.R. Rehman, Resul Pookutty and Gulzar at the occasion.
The screening and the felicitation will take place in Balayogi Auditorium in the parliamentary library building, Lok Sabha secretary general P.D. T Achary said. Vice president Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior cabinet members are also expected to attend the function.
Officials in the Lok Sabha secretariat said it was rare to organize special show of commercial film for the MPs, although there were screenings of historic movies such as Bose: The Forgotten Hero, a film on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
While Rahman won two Oscars - for best song ‘Jai Ho’ and best score -Pookutty won it for best sound mixing and Gulzar shared the Oscar with Rahman for the song.
