Cotton exports halted to cool domestic prices

Mumbai: India, the world’s second largest cotton grower, has halted exports to boost domestic supplies and cool prices that have jumped 27% in the past year.
The registration of export contracts have been suspended from Monday till further orders, textile commissioner A.B. Joshi said. Those registered before Monday and those unused will need to be revalidated, according to a statement on the commissioner’s website.
