Rico gives its version of Sunday’s violence
Gurgaon: Two days after a strike call by unions in Gurgaon, Rico Auto Industries Ltd refuted claims that its securitymen were responsible for the death of a worker on Sunday.
“Armed members of the union, which is yet to be registered barged into the premises...and assaulted employees inside the plant. In the ensuing melee, a worker, Ajit Kumar Yadav, got hurt and later succumbed to his injuries," said Surendra Singh Chaudhary, senior vice- president, human resources, at Rico.
This is the first time Rico has spoken about the events on Sunday that led to the strike call. Rico’s management has been issuing advertisements in local papers stating there is no lockout and workers are free to join work.
Negotiations between the workmen and management remained stalled on Thursday due to counting for the assembly elections.
