Govt to focus on cutting procurement delays
New Delhi: The Indian government will aim to reduce delays in defence procurement under its upcoming Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2010 policy, defence minister A. K. Antony said on the sidelines of the sixth land and naval exhibition show, Def Expo.
“I accept that we have to further reduce the delays. One of the thrust areas reducing delays in procurement in DPP 2010," Antony said, adding that the DPP will find “ways and means" of doing that but did not specify these measures. The policy will also, he said, try and give a “new momentum" to domestic defence firms. At least 35 countries are participating at the Def Expo being held in the capital.
