Lankan crisis: PMK chief meets Gandhi

The PMK leader said that there was a perception in Tamil Nadu that bureaucrats who control intelligence and foreign policy establishments had kept the prime minister, the external affairs minister and the Congress president in the dark over the situation in Sri Lanka.

Ramadoss, accompanied by the union health minister Anbumani Ramadoss, later told reporters that he was satisfied with the response given by the Congress president who promised that the government would work towards a ceasefire.

Ramadoss also said that Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter Services Intelligence, or ISI, had recruited Muslim youths in Sri Lanka and had posted them in many cities in South India to carry out terror attacks in the country.

PMK, a constituent of ruling UPA at the Centre, had also set a two-day deadline for the Manmohan Singh Government to take up the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils to the United Nations. “India has every right to do this. It should take the issue to UN within two days. It should make all possible efforts in this regard," Ramadoss said.
