Uma Bharti launches website on Ganga
Bharti hopes that a large number of people concerned about the present state of the river will come forward to give their suggestions to improve the situation
New Delhi: The ministry for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation on Friday launched a website on the National Mission for Clean Ganga.
Stressing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s thought of making Ganga rejuvenation a mass movement with the involvement of the public, water resources minister Uma Bharti said, “The launch of the website is an important tool to connect the public with the gigantic task of Ganga rejuvenation". Bharti hopes that a large number of people concerned about the present state of the river will come forward to give their suggestions to improve the situation.
The Prime Minister last week chaired the first high-level meeting on ‘Namami Gange’, an integrated plan to rejuvenate the Ganga, where he said that the first priority should be a clean Ganga. Finance minister Arun Jaitley had announced a sum of Rs2,037 crore for the plan in the budget.
The website contains information on the clean Ganga mission, which includes Ganga Manthan, Namami Gange, industrial pollution monitoring, waste water management and details of the Ganga basin.
The website has a provision to receive suggestions from the public. People can also upload files up to 4MB along with their suggestions.
