New Delhi: Special court judge O.P. Saini announced on Tuesday that the high-profile 2G spectrum case trial will be shifted to the Tihar court complex.
The trial has been held at the Patiala House courts in central Delhi until now. Saini said the move follows an order of the Delhi high court in response to several requests and applications from lawyers in the trial for a larger court room. The move is to take effect on Thursday.
All the 14 accused in the case are being detained at Tihar jail after many of them were repeatedly denied bail.
Defence lawyers were displeased by the order as the Tihar court complex is not close to the Delhi high court or the Supreme Court, where many of them have their chambers. Some of them said they would challenge the shifting order in the high court on Wednesday.
