Gonda: Rooting for Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today exhorted the youths to strengthen the hands of the young leadership by rising above caste and communal politics.
Addressing election meetings for the Congress candidates in Gonda and Basti, Abdullah asked the electorate not to waste their time elsewhere and vote for the Congress nominees to help it march ahead on the path of development.
“The future is safe in the strong hands of Rahul Gandhi who is sure to become the prime minister one day ”, Abdullah said appealing to them not to let their votes go waste.
Lashing out at the regional parties, Abdullah said they were “opportunistic” who often sided with the victorious after the polls to gain positions and there is an urgent need to be wary of them, he said also asking them to keep the BJP away which, he said, rakes up communal issues at election time for votes and spreads hatred.
Referring to the Mumbai attacks, Abdullah said that there was intense pressure on the UPA to deploy army on the borders but the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh dealt with the matter diplomatically after which Pakistan was put in a tight spot.
Later talking to newspersons in Basti, Abdullah said that infiltration by terror groups would not be allowed and clarified that there was no infiltration by the Taliban in Kashmir.
